This new machine is a universal player, meaning it handles a broad array of audio and video formats. In addition to Ultra HD Blu-ray, these include DVD video, DVD audio, CD, SA-CD, Blu-ray 3D, and BD-ROM media. It ca also stream video services using built-in apps.
On the audio side, the player has 32-bit processing DAC and is compatible with DSD (up to 11.2 MHz) and PCM (up to 192kHz) hi-res formats. Furthermore, thanks to the inclusion of a front panel display, it can be used as a music player without turning on a video display.
Sony is working with home control and automation companies like Crestron and Savant, to ensure the X1000ES is fully certified and functions properly with their systems.
